“It is important the Government’s intention to renew the hyper and super amortization bonuses of the ‘Industria 4.0’ Italian national plan: these are two measures that have had great success among the companies, although some businesses could not fully benefit because the measures were made available when the budgets for 2017 had already been decided. If the bonuses are renewed, many companies will be able to seize the opportunity for an investment support in 2018”. With these words Marco Taisch, professor at the School of Management Polytechnic of Milan and scientific co-director of the “Industry 4.0 Observatory”, commented on the new opportunities that the Italian companies will be able to exploit for the digitization. Another important aspect is the focus on creating appropriate skills: the Observatory has identified over 100 technical skills needed for the fourth Italian industrial revolution. Among them, the most relevant competence for the businesses is the ability to define a technology adoption plan for improving the production processes: on this theme less than half of the companies (46%) is sufficiently prepared. “In addition to the latest generation machinery, it is necessary to have in the factories human resources able to know how to use them – explained Taisch -. For this reason, the announced reform of the technical schools is a good news: we need technicians in order to seize the opportunities of the fourth industrial revolution. The tax credit on training is also important: an incentive for the skills development is what is needed to complete the national plan, which already provides incentives for technological investments”.
