Danilo Bonato, director of Remedia (Italian consortium for the WEEE management), was appointed member of the High Level Steering Group of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials (European Commission). The committee – that includes also Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of the Industry; Brigitte Zypries, German Minister of the Energy; Karmenu Vella, Environment Commissioner; and representatives of international institutions (OECD, UNIDO, UNEP), companies, universities and civil society representatives – has the mission of identifying the most effective strategies to ensure the EU has a leading role in the raw materials sector and in the resources efficiency. The committee will be involved in defining the best ways to realize the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy. “Being a member of the High Level Steering Group of the EIP on Raw Materials of the European Commission – Bonato said – is an honor and a reason of great satisfaction for me, because it is a recognition for the commitment of the Remedia consortium and WEEE Forum (European association of collective systems of producers engaged in the WEEE management) on strategic themes such as the future of raw materials and circular economy. I will offer my experience and knowledge of the sector to this partnership, which plays a key role in defining the policy on raw materials and in the concrete implementation in the Member States. I hope that, from the international debate with the main players of the sector, new perspectives will be created for a modern and effective WEEE management in Europe”. The European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials is the stakeholder platform combining 54 internationally important interlocutors from 19 Member States.
