Two big Groups’ decision of investing in the production of TV screens confirms the good trend of this field. The South-Korean Group LG Display is investing 13.2 billion dollars in the creation of a new plant for the production of big-size Oled screens. The factory will be set up at Paju, in South Korea, and will start operating in 2019-2020.
The Taiwanese giant Foxconn has instead announced the investment of 10 billion Dollars in a new plant for the production of LCD screens, which will be established in the Wisconsin State, in USA.
The downturn of PC screens is instead going on: owing to the ever-rising shift to mobile appliances, the world sales of PC screens are constantly decreasing. The research agency IDC estimates in 117 million units the total implemented at the end of the current year. This represents the 1.2% drop compared to 2016. A further 2.2% decrease is expected for 2018. The negative trend is likely to continue in the following years, too.
