Candy Group and Lombardy Region together for the “Candy 4.0” project. The company will receive 2.753 million euros from Lombardy Region, to which 4.6 million euros will be added, entered by the group of companies led by Candy that includes New Target Web, L.C.M. Progetti, Info Solution and the CEFRIEL research center. The agreement stems from the call opened by the Region in June 2016 for the development of research and innovation projects. “Candy 4.0” is a project born for the development of a new high efficiency production process, based on the use of innovative practices and aimed at the realization of smart appliances, able to dialogue with the user to allow him to optimize the use of the machine, but also able to dialogue with the factory, send information to the user and make it possible to interact with the web to download advanced modes of operation and detailed information on the programs made possible by the appliance. The research project will therefore focus on the conception, implementation and development of technologies and methods for automating the production and digitizing it, reducing the production costs, increasing the quality of production processes and encouraging the knowledge necessary to enhance the capacity of the operators in the factory. To test the effectiveness of the project, a first smart household appliance will be realized – a washing machine – that, through a machine-factory communication, allows to verify the effectiveness of the information exchange, also involving the end user. To do this, a device and an “app” will be developed that can identify the type of fabrics that are going to be loaded in the washing machine, allowing the machine to automatically suggest the most suitable program for the washing. “The initiative launched by Lombardy Region saw us immediately involved with great enthusiasm together with our partners, and the results once again show the propensity of the companies in our territory (large and small companies) towards the innovation and the development of new technologies – said Beppe Fumagalli, CEO of Candy Group -. The ‘Candy 4.0’ project goes in the direction we have been taking for some time: to continue to believe and invest in research, innovation and development of products that are increasingly smart and increasingly designed to simplify the lives of consumers. An effort that is expressed in the constant expansion of our offer and in anticipating the market trends, fundamental factors to continue to grow”.
