Electrolux Care drum

Electrolux Group has won four Red Dot Design Awards across its Electrolux and AEG brands. Under the scrutiny of an international judging panel, the designs impressed in areas of innovation, functionality, formal quality, and ergonomics. “A Red Dot Award ranks as one of the most coveted in the world of product design – says Pernilla Johansson, Chief Design Officer at Electrolux -. Designing an outstanding experience is at the heart of everything we do at Electrolux. We thrive when connecting foresight and creativity in an iterative, research-based approach. I’m very proud of the teams that have been recognized for bringing our design philosophy, ‘Human Touch’, to life”. The winning products are: AEG Matt Black Kitchen Collection, AEG AX5/AX7 & Electrolux Well A5/A7 air purifiers, AEG QX6/QX7/QX8 & Electrolux Q6/Q7/Q8 stick cleaners and Care drum. In particular, to be integrated into Electrolux and AEG laundry products globally from 2022, the new Care drum started with the consumer insight that many people hand wash delicates because they don’t trust their machine to do so without causing damage to clothing. The close dialogue between engineering and design culminated in an innovative solution, with the resulting Care drum significantly gentler on fabrics. Abrasion to all clothing, not just delicates, is significantly reduced as garments glide smoothly thanks to the elevated cushion-like drum pattern and optimized lifter paddle. A thin film of water covers the holes during washing to provide a gentle laundry process and an enhanced consumer experience regardless of the type of clothing being cared for.
