Samsung receives a certification that confirms the strength in device security and data protection, in line with European standards for IoT

Samsung Electronics announced that two series of robot vacuum cleaners, Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam and Bespoke Jet Bot Combo, together with Bespoke AI refrigerators, have obtained IoT security certification from TÜV Nord, a global certification body based in Germany.

This is the first time that Samsung digital appliances have obtained this kind of certification, confirming the company’s role in home technology and in data security and protection.

«At a time when security in smart homes is increasingly important, Samsung continues to offer advanced protection thanks to our Knox security platform», said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team at Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances (DA) Business. «This certification confirms the strength of our security technologies, which we will continue to enhance to protect our customers’ data».

Certification in compliance with european cybersecurity requirements

TÜV Nord is a globally recognised certification body accredited as a National Certification Body under the IECEE scheme. The certification is based on the ETSI EN 303 645 standard, defined by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), which sets out security and privacy requirements for the entire lifecycle of consumer IoT devices – from design to distribution and operation. Key criteria include data encryption, authentication and access control, secure software updates, personal data protection and vulnerability management.

The European market is already raising security requirements with the update of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and the upcoming entry into force of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). In this context, TÜV Nord certification demonstrated that Samsung is prepared to comply with new international standards, committing to protecting users in connected environments. Samsung has reinforced its appliances with a wide range of Knox security technologies, which protect user data through various layers of defence, such as verifying unauthorised firmware changes when the device is turned on. In addition, all monitoring videos and voice commands from robot vacuum cleaners are encrypted and decrypted only on the intended target device. The Bespoke AI 2025 and Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam refrigerators, both certified, offer even more advanced protection thanks to the integration of Knox Matrix and Knox Vault. Knox Matrix enables cross-device security checks, alerting the user promptly in the event of a data theft risk. Knox Vault, on the other hand, protects sensitive personal information, such as passwords, by processing and storing it in a dedicated hardware subsystem. The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam robot vacuum cleaner will be officially unveiled at IFA 2025 in Berlin, while the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo model and Bespoke AI refrigerators are already in distribution.
