ABB, Bosch, Cisco and LG intend to create a consortium targeted to the creation of a software platform for the smart home. Such companies have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding about the matter, whose programme is subjected to antitrust authorities’ approval. According to the memorandum, parties are going to develop an open architecture for the data exchange. The software platform would enable different devices and services to interoperate and to exchange information mutually. It would be also possible the distribution of application software. Thanks to this architecture, appliances and devices by several producers might offer a shared whole of services of home automation, safety, health assistance and entertainment.
