Brazil: declining production of household appliances

BrasileAs communicated by Abinee (Brazilian association of electric and electronic industries), in July 2015 the production of electrical and electronics sector in Brazil had a decrease of 25.2% compared to July 2014. However, compared to June of this year, it recorded an increase of 6.7%. The decline of July is the result of -34.8% for the electronic sector and -15.7% for the electrical industry. In the electronics sector, only the components have reached a positive percentage (+4.9%).
Considering the period January-July 2015 compared to the same months of 2014, the drop in the electrical and electronics industry was 18.1% (-28.9% in the electronics industry; -6.8% in the electrical industry). Particularly significant decreases have been reached from IT equipment and peripherals and audio-video devices.
Observing in detail certain categories of the electrical sector, the production of household appliances recorded -25.7% in July 2015 compared to July 2014 and -8.2% in January-July 2015 compared to the corresponding period of 2014. The category of generators, transformers and electric motors respectively recorded declines of -10.2% (July 2015 vs. July 2014) and -12.4% (January-July 2015 vs. January-July 2014).
