Positive signals, although with caution

2017

The turnover of Italian industry Electrical and Electronics in 2015 grew by +5.8%. A first positive sign, but certainly not enough to close the wide gap with the pre-crisis levels. This is shown by the Annual General Meeting of Anie Confindustria.
“The positive side of the turnover – commented Claudio Andrea Gemme, President of Anie – comes after a very difficult period, and is interpreted primarily as a fall arrest. And it is the result of two factors: the estate of foreign sales and an early turnaround in the domestic market. But we expect to talk about recovery ”
The Electrotechnical industry
In detail, the Electrotechnics industry showed a positive trend in 2015 of the total business volume in almost all sectors. In particular, they have made a significant contribution to total revenue growth sectors and electrified rail transport (+ 22.8%), Renewable Energy (+20.3%), energy transfer (+ 7.0%) and energy distribution ( + 9.4%). With reference to sub-supplier of technologies for the electricity market (transmission and power distribution), these short-term dynamics are part of a wider process of review of the question, towards more efficient and sustainable technological solutions. With reference to the Italian supplier of technologies for Renewable Energy, the positive trend highlighted in 2015 following the sharp fall in the total turnover recorded in 2014, particularly negative for the sector.
Positive during 2015 also performed two traditional sectors of excellence of Made in Italy technologies as domestic and professional equipment (+ 0.8%) and Lighting (+ 4.5%). After a very critical phase mainly linked to continued decline in investment in Italy, in 2015 the growth has also affected sectors Cables (+ 5.9%), Components and Systems for equipment (+ 5.4%) and Elevators and Escalators (+ 1.7%).
The electronics industry
In Electronics in 2015, signs of recovery have united the different sectors. After a difficult 2014, the industry of electronic components was driven by growth in foreign demand making it registered an increase of 4.9% of annual change in the total turnover of the sector in the annual comparison. During the year, also the sectors manufacturing Industrial automation and process automation and security buildings and have maintained a strong positive sign more of the total turnover (+ 7.1% and + 4.5%).

One of the main factors that have affected the performance of the Italian electronic and electrical engineering sector during 2015 is the emergence of some signs of recovery in the domestic market (+ 9.6% growth in domestic demand facing aggregate electrical engineering and Electronics in 2015), which offset the decrease of more than 9% in the previous year.
Despite the positive trends of 2015, domestic demand addressed to the Italian technology is still less than 10 percentage points compared to 2008. Also in Italy, in Electrical Engineering in 2015 and electrified rail transport sectors (+45 %), Renewable energy (+ 28.7%), energy distribution (+ 11.8%) and cables (+ 10.1%) showed the most pronounced changes. The positive trends highlighted in the 2014-2015 two-year period following a very critical stage (between 2009 and 2013 domestic demand given to rail transport and electrified had recorded a cumulative drop of more than 20%). With reference to the Renewable Energies, according to GSE in 2015 in the Italian new installations have registered compared to 2014, a double-digit growth.
In detail Electronics, overall progress has been reflected primarily the increase shown by the manufacturing sector industrial automation and process (+ 8.3%), in line with recent years continues to show positive changes in the internal market.
Despite the volatile trading environment, in 2015, exports maintained a strong role in supporting the growth of Anie sectors, recording a + 3.4% annual increase. The overall result has mainly benefited the most dynamic of the trends in the first half of the year. Among the sectors that showed the most pronounced changes in foreign sales include, in areas Electrical, Energy Distribution (+ 8.4%), energy transfer (+ 7.3%) and lighting (+ 7.3%). These sectors are characterized by offering advanced technology and are united by having started long continuous path of internationalization.
The cumulative result of the electronics has been reflected positively in particular the recovery of foreign sales of electronic components (+ 7.5%), sector actively present in international supply chains. Accelerating also the direct export of the manufacturing sector industrial automation and process (+ 6.5%)
Looking at geographical distribution, in 2015 the Italian electrotechnical and electronic exports grew in almost all of the target areas. Among the elements that have favored these trends it plays an important role in the gradual restart of European demand. Among the non-European areas that have provided more support to sectoral export growth include North America and the Middle East.
The export competitiveness of industry Electrical and Electronics Italian is also confirmed by data on the trade balance. The ANIE sectors constitute a net exporter with a trade surplus for nearly 15 billion euro.
The forecasts for the sectors ANIE in 2016: growing risks in foreign markets and the uncertainties persist on the domestic recovery.
In a macroeconomic scenario as the current one, the analysis of the backlog shows overall conflicting indications on the Italian Electrotechnics and electronics in the first half of 2016. More signs of weakness in orders were recorded for the Electrical and in detail, in the export component. The worsening of the international scenario could restrain especially exports to some European markets in recent years have provided a significant contribution to the sectoral growth. key area for the recovery is confirmed Europe.
Even the evolution of domestic demand in the coming months has some unknowns, in the light of the most recent Italian economy, slower than forecast.
