As highlighted by APPLiA, Europeans widely consider the energy label as a tool to make informed purchase decisions. 8 in 10 European citizens know the energy label and consult it when buying home appliances. The energy label is changing. As from March 2021, new energy labels will be visible for all European consumers in shops and online. The rescaled labels – from A to G – will initially apply to 5 product groups: dishwashers, washing machines and washer-dryers, refrigerators and freezers, lamps and electronic displays. Nowadays, all home appliances available on the market are extremely efficient and there to provide consumers with the best performance and the savviest use of resources. This update allows showing the latest innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies developed by the home appliance industry. In view of this change, APPLiA launches a website on the new energy label: “www.theenergylabel.eu is the one-stop-shop designed for consumers, dealers and suppliers – said Paolo Falcioni, APPLiA Director General – that wants to bring together all the up-to-date information on the new energy label”. Available today in English, it will soon come translated in the European languages to be a handy tool for all Europeans. Dates to keep in mind, dedicated pages for each home appliance, explanation of new icons’ meaning, answers to the questions, access to the relevant legislative sources: the website also gives a preview on the new look of the energy label – in particular, a QR code on the label will allow consumers to get additional information about the appliance they are interested in by simply scanning it with a smartphone.
