Technical Consumer Goods in Austria show a slight increase in turnover (+1,5%) in the fourth quarter 2019, as communicated by GfK Temax. The highest impact is due to a 9,3% growth for the IT sector, followed by Telecommunication and Major Domestic Appliances with a plus of +2.4% and 2.3%. Small Domestic Appliances slightly exceed with +0.4% the high level of the previous year. Besides, Consumer Electronic sector closes with -8,7% and Office Equipment with -12%. Considering the Major Domestic Appliances, the growth trend for products like cooking ovens with a self-cleaning function or hobs with integrated hoods continued in Q4 and also the tumble dryers with an A+++ energy efficiency class had positive results. On the other side, the product groups like freezers, hoods, microwave ovens and wine cabinets achieved negative performances. Observing the Small Domestic Appliances, the growth in the sector is primarily due to the good results of hot beverage makers and hair stylers. But most of the SDA product groups did not manage to generate any growth: sales of deep fryers further declined sharply and sales of irons and shavers decreased significantly.
