With the Phase 2 the Italian TCG market returns positive

With the end of the lockdown the Italians return to buy Tech products, even in the stores. In the week from 4th to 10th May 2020, the survey carried out by GfK on the Retail Panel Weekly shows a growth of +19% (sales value) compared to the same period of last year. The positive trend of the IT and Office sector continues, which had also grown a lot during the lockdown due to the effect of Home Working and Digital Learning. In particular, Portable PCs (+154%), PC Desks (+38%) and Media Tablets (+61%) are growing, with positive performance both online and offline. The Small Domestic Appliance sector was also very positive (both online and offline): sales of shavers continued to rise (+88%) and coffee machines also showed a sharp recovery, recording +13% compared to the same period of 2019. Another category that has never stopped growing is that of Air Treatment (+88%), driven by the boom in sales of products for Air Cleaning, devices that purify the home air, eliminating bacteria, polluting particles and other toxic micro-substances. Among the products that return to growth after a few weeks of decline there are also refrigerators (+8.3%), TVs (+4.3%) and soundbars (+16.6%). Compared to last year, the value trend of smartphones still remains negative (-2.8%).
