According to GfK‘s findings, the Italian market for technical consumer goods has continued to grow steadily since the beginning of the Phase 2. In the week from 25 to 31 May 2020 the data show an increase of +35.6% (sales value) compared to the same period of last year. In recent weeks, the market has at least partially recovered the losses recorded during the eight weeks of lockdown, although the trend for 2020 has not yet been reversed. The recovery in sales affects all channels: in the last week of May, the online channel registered a growth of +86% (sales value), but also in the traditional stores the result is positive: +26% compared to the same period of 2019. Another positive sign is the growth of all the most important Tech products for turnover: in particular smartphones and TV (both +25%). As for Major Domestic Appliances, the washing machines show a growth of +12% and refrigerators +57%. Good performance also for the Small Domestic Appliances: the coffee machines record +33%, while the vacuum cleaners increase by +64% (sales value). The Air Conditioning sector also started to rise (+28%), while the Air Treatment category (+130%) was confirmed as a very positive category, which had shown very good results even during the lockdown.
