Phi Drive, the advanced R&D centre of the Gruppo Comestero Sistemi, has been awarded the “Premio America Innovazione” by the Fondazione Italia USA, one of Italy’s most prestigious institutional recognitions for innovative startups and SMEs operating in global markets.
This award is given annually to up to 300 Italian entrepreneurial talents whose companies demonstrate outstanding innovation, international competitiveness, and long-term investment capacity.
In detail, winners are selected by the Fondazione Italia USA through the national business registry system, with no possibility of self-nomination. The prize, therefore, carries particular significance as an independent institutional validation, a mark of quality recognized by investors and international partners alike.
Expertise in nanopositioning and photonics
This recognition confirms Phi Drive’s expertise in the nanopositioning, a sector which is increasingly central to today’s advanced industrial applications.

Innovation in micromanipulation and piezoelectric systems

The start-up was born in 2013. It develops linear and rotating drives using piezo-electric and pneumatic actuation. “High precision positioning, and an E-Green soul with low energy consumption and absence of lubricants – highlights the company – make these products suitable for many application fields”. Besides, the design allows for a high degree of customization and miniaturization of components according to specific client requirements.
