Denmark: the TCG market increased by 7.6%

In the first quarter of 2019, the overall TCG (technical consumer goods) market in Denmark increased, especially driven by IT, small domestic appliances and major domestic appliances, according to GfK Temax. The IT sector grew the most, where the increase was seen in non-gaming laptops. In CE, the decline was due to decreasing sales in non-smart audio and Oled TVs. The growth in SDA came from increasing demand for vacuum cleaners, while the cooling category and freestanding dishwashers drove MDA growth.

Here are the growing products:
Major Domestic Appliances
The growth in the Cooling category comes from small 1 door refrigerators and fridge freezers. Besides, freestanding dishwashers show strong growth in Q1 2019.

Small Domestic Appliances
Vacuum cleaners recorded a double-digit increase mainly due to handstick and robot. Besides, Food Preparation continue to show strong growth in the first quarter, which mainly comes from choppers and food processors. Finally, the increase in the Personal Care category was driven by hair clippers, shavers and light therapy.

Consumer Electronics
Strong growth in Bluetooth speakers was recorded, primarily driven by smart speaker sales. In addition, soundbar speaker sales showed strong increase in the first quarter of 2019. As regards to the large sized UHD LCD TVs, they continue to drive the growth in TV sales.

In the first quarter of 2019, a continued growth for Compact System Cameras was registered. Besides, also the Fixed Lens Cameras showed growth in Q1.

Information Technology
In the IT sector, sales continue to increase for visual cams and mobile computing continue to show strong results in Q1 primarily driven by non gaming laptops. Besides, strong growth in sales for keying and pointing devices was reached.

Telecommunications
Core wearables continue to growth with double-digit increase rates and large sized smartphones are driving the growth in the category: this affects the conventional smart and mobile phones sales. The headsets continue to increase across the category, but the growth is driven by non gaming headsets.

Office Equipment & Consumables
Printers continue to show a positive development with rising sales. The first quarter reported increased sales in Inkjet cartridges.

Major Domestic Appliances
Tumble dryers continue the decline in Q1 and the sales of freestanding cookers drop as consumers rather buy built-in appliances.

Small Domestic Appliances
Juicers/pressers continue to show a steep decline and kettles show a declining demand in the first quarter of 2019.

Consumer Electronics
Oled TVs continue the decline in Q1 and the Audio product groups are pressured, with the exception of Smart Audio. Especially portable radio devices and home theatre audio are declining. Besides, also the Car Navigation continue its decline.

Information Technology
A continuous fall in routers and media tablets was recorded and gaming PCs (both desk and laptops) also saw a decline in Q1.

Telecommunications
Conventional smartphones and mobile phones suffer from the impressive growth that large sized smartphones are showing, which means they continue a steep decline.

Office Equipment & Consumables
A continuous fall in laser cartridges was registered.
