NEMA: demand for motors decreases in the second quarter of 2014

motori variNEMA, US association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, has published its Motors Shipments Index that registered a decline of 1.8% in the second quarter of 2014 compared to the first quarter of the year. The index improved on a year-over-year basis, posting an increase of 5%. Inflation adjusted shipments of fractional horsepower motors – used also in the appliance sector – during the January-June period bested first half 2013 by almost 29%. Integral horsepower motor shipments during the first half of 2014 climbed 6.1% compared to the same period a year ago.
