An investigation by GfK research company has surveyed consumers’ 2104 global spending in retail stores. Obviously, the numbers do not take into account online sales and precisely for this reason the ranking does not correspond to the total consumer expenditure.
Russia ranks first with 427.5 billion Euros, followed by France with 424.4 and then by Germany with 408.0. In the order, follow Great Britain, with 397.2 billion Euros, and in fifth position Italy with 254.7, while Spain is sixth with 194.2.
Being absolute values, the least populous Countries are in low ranking positions. Nevertheless, Switzerland (8.1 million inhabitants) is ninth with 84.1 billion Euros while Belgium (10.4 millions) is tenth with 81.1.
