The ideal household appliance for refrigerating and freezing foods not only should decrease electrical energy costs in the bill but it is also expected to be more and more flexible and user friendly in the management of the inner space; in particular, it must be possible to set it quickly on different temperature levels according to the requirements of the various food typologies, from fruits to vegetables, meat and fish, up to drugs and cosmetics. The control of the inner room wetness is the other parameter that the latest developed product ranges place in the forefront: fresh and dried foods, certainly, but maintaining the right consistency and fragrance.

Siemens provides the iSensoric technology, a system based on smart sensors and software that collects the information concerning the internal temperature and automatically adapts them to food conservation needs. As it happens, for instance, in the case of the freestanding fridge-freezer model KG39NXI42, when the inner temperature changes (according to the door opening/closing actions and to the food temperature), or under the temperature conditions outside the appliance, sensors react by starting the compressor and thus managing the electrical energy consumption in optimal way. The humidity regulation in the crisperBox shares in the conservation of fruits and vegetables; for meat and fish, the temperature in the bottom coolBox is lower by 2-3 °C compared to the remaining refrigerated space.

Several use possibilities and smart control technologies characterize also the refrigerators of the CustomFlex range by Electrolux. The inner space is customizable, with the door interior equipped with interchangeable containers and shelves. The TwinTech technology allows preserving 99% of humidity of fruits and vegetables.
