A press release by the trade association SEMI, whose members are the producers of equipment for the semiconductor production, reveals that currently as many as 15 new plants to manufacture semiconductors are under construction in China.
China is today the major consumer of these components in the world and aims at reaching the self-sufficiency in the matter, since the domestic production is neatly lower than the requirements. However, according to SEMI “the way towards this direction will be still long”.
