Digitization accelerates and the demand for highly specialized skills, both in the factory and in the company, is growing more and more in Italy. And if, according to Senaf’s latest MECSPE Observatory on the period September-December 2021, 71% of SMEs in the Italian manufacturing industry have already hired, trained or plan to integrate new professional figures with adequate skills to carry out the transformation 4.0, only 51% of them identify the staff skills as essential to grow. A still long path for the industrial sector but with a positive outlook thanks to the incentives and public funds, among which the tax credit for training 4.0 from the PNRR funds and Fondo nuove competenze (New skills fund). To guide the manufacturing companies in the indispensable 4.0 adaptation path, on the occasion of the 20th edition of MECSPE, the most important exhibition in Italy dedicated to manufacturing and organized by Senaf, scheduled from 9 to 11 June at BolognaFiere, will be inaugurated for the first time the MECSPE LIVE ACADEMY, the “heart” of MECSPE 2022 dedicated to the training for the digital factory. The new special initiative of MECSPE 2022 will be developed on an area of 2,500 square meters and is realized with the support of the companies and six of the eight national Competence Centers set up by Mise to help companies in the digital transformation path: Artes 4.0, Bi-Rex, Cim 4.0, Made, Smact and Start4.0. To date, however, there are still very few Italian SMEs that collaborate with the Competence Centers (9%) and, thanks to the MECSPE LIVE ACADEMY, entrepreneurs and visitors of all ages, including students between 18 and 24, will be able to know these realities and immerse themselves in short trainings in order to see from the inside the potential of each technology on the digital factory production system. It will be possible to deepen the skills required for the functioning of the digital factory, both “digital hard skills” and “digital soft skills”. The goal of the MECSPE LIVE ACADEMY is to spread a “data-driven” industrial culture that aims to prevent errors and malfunctions, improve the efficiency of the production processes, and reduce waste and slowdowns.
The demonstration area will be managed directly by the Competence Centers which will have the opportunity to show some of the most innovative projects developed together with the companies. From the use of the “virtual factory”, twin of the real one, to allow immediate decisions, to the combined use of collaborative robots and perception and learning systems, up to a deepening about deep learning systems, artificial intelligence and machine vision for needs related to the quality control. The MECSPE LIVE ACADEMY will not finish at the end of the fair but will continue, in the months following the event, with telematic courses on the same issues in collaboration with Accademia Tecniche Nuove. “With the 20th edition MECSPE confirms its format, which has always been oriented towards a concrete approach to the most recent technological innovations in the industrial field to help companies in the 4.0 transformation – says Maruska Sabato, Project Manager of MECSPE -. Thus, the precious collaboration with the Competence Centers is renewed, which will play a strategic role in the development of the entire sector thanks to the new PNRR funds. We are confident that the new demonstration area will be able to intrigue not only established entrepreneurs and professionals, but also the new generations, who play a fundamental role in the growth of our production system”.
The next edition of MECSPE will occupy 92,000 square meters of exhibition space, divided into 13 thematic halls. An event that will bring together all the main players in the manufacturing sector and which will propose numerous initiatives and special events that follow the three themes inspired by the pillars for the growth 4.0: in addition to training, also digitization and sustainability.
According to the latest data from the MECSPE Observatory, in fact, in 74% of the cases the digitization path has already been undertaken and is growing (especially for 40% of the companies), with increasing investments in the field of IT security, collaborative robotics and Internet of Things. In this regard, MECSPE includes the Simulation Summit, the first independent Italian conference on CAE Simulation in the industrial field, and for the seventh consecutive year the “Solution Award” will be held, or the Robotics Innovation Award to enhance the best industrial or service robotic application realized by Italian companies. The System Integrator Area by Yaskawa will instead focus on synergy and close collaboration between the robot manufacturer Yaskawa and systems integrators.
Great attention is also paid to the best eco-sustainable solutions in the company, with the ECOfriendly Path – “I do more”, and with the Design Area by Materioteca, dedicated to the theme of the lightening. MECSPE also dedicates ample space to the Startup Factory, the area intended to encourage the dialogue between startups and small, medium and large enterprises. Finally, METEF (the international expo for the aluminium, foundry castings & innovative metals industry) will take place simultaneously with MECSPE.
