According to the forecasts of Anima Confindustria, for the sectors represented by Assofoodtec (Association federated to Anima which includes manufacturers of machines, plants and equipment for the production, processing and preservation of food), 2023 will close with a turnover of around 4.55 billion euros, showing stability with 2022 which had recorded a turnover of 4.56 billion. Exports are growing, representing over 60% of the turnover for the Assofoodtec companies, and should reach 3.02 billion euros (+1.4%) at the end of 2023. The forecasts are based on the performances of the first six months of the year and arrive after an extremely positive 2022, which had recorded +4.5% on 2021. These results were obtained after two years of crisis dictated by the pandemic, which required both flexibility and adaptability from companies in the sector. One of the most important aspects of the year is the increase in investment in research and development, with a focus on sustainability and the use of high-quality materials.
