Decarbonization is a goal that passes through technology and the ability to upgrade existing infrastructure. A tangible example of this is the collaboration between Glem Gas and Italgas. The Italian company, a manufacturer of cooking appliances, is in fact taking part in a research project promoted by Italgas in the municipality of Torre de’ Passeri (Pescara, Italy).
This initiative aims to test the use of natural gas and hydrogen blends under domestic usage conditions. Cooking is an area that can offer significant opportunities for innovation, in order to achieve better results in terms of energy. To reach this goal, hydrogen can represent an interesting solution for making the energy mix more sustainable.
The project also benefits from the important scientific contribution of the Politecnico di Milano and the Politecnico di Torino, and is in line with European and national goals for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The details of the project
Glem Gas was selected as an industrial partner to supply latest generation cooking systems, specifically designed to operate safely and efficiently with this new blend. The installation of Glem Gas products in the homes involved will make it possible to validate the technology’s performance in everyday use, demonstrating how the existing network and consumer appliances can evolve toward higher sustainability standards.
“We are proud to support a research project that looks to the future of gas and energy – says Marco Guerzoni, Marketing Director at Glem Gas –. The collaboration with Italgas represents a fundamental building block in our innovation strategy. Being chosen as a technology partner confirms to us that the path of energy transition can be pursued not only by building new infrastructure, but above all by enhancing and innovating the existing infrastructure — a strategic asset for our Country”.
Integration of sustainable energy carriers
The final goal of the project is to foster an increasingly widespread integration of sustainable energy carriers, helping to reduce atmospheric emissions and strengthening Italy’s technological position in the green gas supply chain.
Glem Gas, with a history spanning almost seventy years, is putting its technological expertise at the disposal of Italgas, confirming the company’s ongoing commitment to developing solutions that meet the challenges of tomorrow’s energy system. In recent years, Glem Gas has undertaken a path of technological innovation that has led the company to develop products powered not only by gas but also by induction. In particular, in 2024, on its 65th anniversary, Glem Gas reaffirmed its identity as a Made in Italy specialist, evolving toward more sustainable and innovative solutions. The latest stage (in chronological order) in this evolutionary journey is the Aura collection, which includes various types of kitchen appliances: freestanding cookers, different types of ovens, hobs and hoods, as well as a warming drawer.
Finally, the Quality Management System of the company is certified according to UNI ISO 9001:2015 and has been recently integrated with the Environmental Certification UNI ISO 14001:2015.
