Fimap’s CB-1 autonomous scrubber-dryer is a collaborative robot designed to speed up cleaning processes and boost productivity. With the aim of meeting the new needs and operational standards of professional cleaning, Fimap has updated some of the machine’s features, bringing it to level 2.0. “We have improved both technical and technological aspects – explains the company – to offer a comprehensive and reliable support capable of increasing productivity. We have enhanced performance, made navigation even smoother, and integrated systems that will allow users to get more from cleaning operations and optimize collaboration with operators”.

Better navigation with sensor updates

One of the CB-1’s strengths is the system of sensors. They work together to enhance the machine’s ability to move autonomously within the environment. Specifically, thanks to the 3D ToF Camera, the CB-1 detects the depth of objects and identifies both suspended obstacles and low-lying ones up to 5 cm. This technology extends the side vision capability for better recognition of obstacles throughout the surrounding space.

Besides, the machine is equipped with hemispherical 3D Lidar that ensures high resolution and visual accuracy. This enables intelligent space detection, with greater definition of the area to be cleaned and a dynamic adaptation to obstacles that optimizes routes, intervention and productivity.

In addition, the new CB-1 guarantees a better response to moving obstacles. It detects approaching obstacles and reduces speed to safely overtake them without stopping, completing the cleaning task with consistent productivity.

Finally, the machine is also equipped with fall detection and ultrasonic sensors. These detect glass and transparent materials and remain reliable even in very bright and dusty environments. Thanks to odometry, in large spaces with few reference points the machine can continue navigating even if the other sensors provide limited information.

Integration with operator activities

While in the previous version Perimeter mode calculated a single cleaning path, this update generates 5. It will therefore be possible to select the path best suited to integrate with staff activities, thereby maximizing productivity.

Another available feature is delayed start, allowing the cleaning operation to begin after a user-defined time interval. This feature supports coordination between the CB-1’s operation and that of the operators. It allows for the consideration of multiple variables related to the environment to be cleaned, optimizing the cleaning schedule times.

Perfected cleaning path and enhanced safety

The uniform water delivery ensures even distribution of the solution across the work area. This guarantees optimal and consistent performance throughout the entire cleaning path. Furthermore, the 70 cm width of the squeegee allows for thorough drying even when turning, without leaving streaks or imperfections.
As regards to safety, the wheel design is engineered to prevent contact with feet even when a person is very close.

Getting value from data with statistics

Another advantage of the CB-1 autonomous scrubber-dryer is the possibility to have statistics on the work performed. Post-mission reports are now processed to generate statistics. These help increase efficiency and productivity, providing an overview that makes it easier to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
