A survey commissioned by the trade association GIFAM on a sample of French families reveals that big white goods are generally used for a longer period than that indicated by manufacturers, 10 years in most cases. InFrance, then, a dishwasher lives on average 11 years and 6 months, a washing machine 11 years and 7 months and a refrigerator even 13 years and 4 months. The longevity record is won anyway by the freezer, whose average life is 14 years and 4 months.
