With the Liquidmetal process, Engel paves the way to the machining of completely new materials and product characteristics: now it is possible to injection-mould also metal alloys efficiently.

The alloys developed by Liquidmetal, known also as metal glasses, constitute a new class of materials characterized by excellent mechanical properties: they are much more resistant and elastic than conventional alloys and steels, which makes them suitable for the production of components with new properties indeed.

Together with Liquidmetal Technologies, Engel has developed an innovative solution for the Liquidmetal alloy injection moulding based on the electrical injection presses of the Engel e-motion series. This solution paves the way to the low-cost mass-production of high-precision metal components, which in the past could be implemented only turning to MIM injection moulding techniques or to the the machining of single pieces on CNC machine tools.
