Panasonic announced that two of its products were selected for the Good Design Best 100 at the Good Design Award 2019. The products are the Technics SL-1200MK7 Direct Drive Turntable System, and the CS-Z35UFEAW/409CY2 series Floor Console Air Conditioner. According to the evaluation by the jury, this product “embodies the spirit of design sincerely squaring with western consumers’ replacement demand for air conditioning systems. The housing design of this conditioner delivers a sophisticated appearance like built-in furniture, that can be a member of aesthetically pleasing interior components. The design of genuine elegance has eliminated the feeling of the eyesore, commonly seen in home appliances made up of injection-molded plastic parts. To every detail, it realizes the concept of simplicity. No mechanical looking opening is there. The outer parts, from the double front flap to bottom/side air inlets, are all neatly fitted into clearances between face materials. The level of design integrity in the home-use appliance to create a new trend has been the decisive element for the award”.
The award-winning products will be on display at the Good Design Exhibition 2019, an exhibition of winning products from the Good Design Award 2019, from October 31 to November 4, 2019, at Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi, Tokyo).
