LEED accreditation to Whirlpool’s Factory Distribution Center

The U.S. Green Building Council, the nation’s governing body for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system, recently awarded Silver Certification to Whirlpool Corporation’s Factory Distribution Center in Tulsa (Oklahoma). The 800,000 square foot distribution center, which officially opened in March, integrates various green building strategies and designs across several categories, including energy usage, water consumption, and indoor air quality. “Receiving LEED Silver Certification at our new FDC in Tulsa once again demonstrates Whirlpool Corporation is a global leader in sustainability and manufacturing – said Jim Keppler, vice president of Integrated Supply Chain and Quality for Whirlpool Corporation’s North America Region -.
