The purchase offer for the German producer of silicon wafers SIltronic, by the Tawainese Group Global Wafers, worth 4.4 billion dollars, has not obtained the necessary authorizations by the German State. Consequently, the owbnership of SIltronic remains to the current owners, that is to say the German Group Wacker Chemie, which holds the majority of shares. Global Wafers is currently the third world producer of silicon wafers, behind the Japanese Shin-Etsu Chemical and Sumco. Siltronic ranks immediately after in the list.
