Historical surpass: at the end of 2013 the sales of tablets and smartphones will surpass consumer electronics’s. According to the calculations of the research company IHS, at the end of 2013 the sales of tablets and smartphones will reach the overall value of 350 billion dollars on a world scale, while those of consumer electronics, slightly decreasing versus 2012, will reach 344 billions. The surpass is determined by two reasons: on one hand there is a partial functional overlap, while on the other hand the new category of products has been rapidly interpreted by consumers’ psychology as gift matter. Forecasts are unanimous: in the next years the replacement trend will further consolidate and the future of “brown goods” does not seem rosy.
