The research agency NPD foresees that at the end of 2014 254 million tablets will have been sold in the world, with a rise by 2% only versus 2013. That percentage is much lower than what expected. The reason for the “slowdown” can be ascribed to the rising competition that comes from smartphones.
In the successive 2015, however, the rising trend should start again and, according to the forecasts, sales are likely to exceed 275 million units, grazing 300 million pieces in 2016.
