Confindustria Ceced Italia, the association that groups the majority of household appliance manufacturers in Italy, last month underlined the mature point now reached by the smart kitchen, become under all respects a commercial product. Within the growing attention dedicated to smartness (smart building, smart city, smart grid and so on) today the smart kitchen is a reality embodied by communicating and interconnected products, controllable even remotely. Besides, the smart kitchen, due to the importance that household appliances hold, is the fundamental expression of smartness: under consumers’ control and with performances that are not only more ecologic for the consumption reduction but also characterized by growing quality and more and more tailor-made for people. Through the smart approach, the household appliances equipping our house communicate one another and with people to simplify the use, to improve performances and to optimize consumptions. It is a range of further advantages offered to the user starting from the consolidated priority of the consumption decrease (electricity, gas and water), whose energy label constitutes its standard form of information for consumers. Thanks to the reciprocal interaction, the various household appliances act as an optimized and self-regulated system, granting anyway users the possibility of “forcing” priorities and times. Moreover, through apps, the remote control becomes a reality. Also the energy efficiency of hobs is further improved through the increasing offer of the induction cooking, which completes the gas one, whose new flame systems combine design and efficiency. Cooktops can dialogue with the hood to optimize consumptions conforming, in the case of induction ones, to the limits of the vast majority of electrical domestic connections. The air quality in the kitchen environment improves as well, where hoods, more and more technological and refined design objects, nowadays play an increasingly important role. The experience of professional cookers (field where Italy is world leader) has been expressed in domestic cooking with smart hobs and ovens that programme the cooking according to foods and the wished result.
