Arcelik’s CEO, Hakan Bulgurlu, has been elected as the new president of APPLiA – Home Appliance Europe. For the next two-year mandate, Bulgurlu has announced that he will focus on promoting sustainability plans, boosting the fight against climate change and decarbonisation, involving industry and the business community and giving APPLiA a stronger and more relevant global voice from a sustainability point of view. “Commitment and dedication were the key factors behind the mandate of my predecessor, Dr. Göetz, and now the stage is set for a successful collaboration – said Hakan Bulgurlu –. In the midst of a post-pandemic era and a consequent phase of economic recovery in Europe, the industry is called to face the transversal effects of the imminent geopolitical challenges, affecting millions of lives and sectors in Europe and the rest of the world. This is further aggravated by one of the problems the most urgent that humanity is facing: the climate change. The increased levels of energy insecurity require a prompt transformation. As Association, we have a huge responsibility in carrying forward the energy efficiency goals, to leave to our children a better planet. In this regard, the role of the young generations is crucial as the current problems will directly affect the consumers of tomorrow.
