raeeCeced Italia has signed an agreement with retailers and trade organizations. With this program agreement it ends the long revision process of the WEEE Directive (2002). The new agreement is valid for three years. It defines the general conditions for the WEEE management from the grouping areas of the retailers, the procedure to collect the waste, the collection organization in the country homogeneously, the performance bonuses that have been incremented and adapted to what has already been recognized by the agreement in February 2015. “The signing of this agreement – commented Antonio Guerrini, general director Confindustria Ceced Italia – sets the conditions for a complete and correct management of the WEEE system. For us manufacturers it has always been a priority to align all stakeholders in environmental and social behaviors as are the correct WEEE disposal and recycling. This is an area where the appliances are the most important component in volume, weight and production of secondary raw materials. All together we have now defined an equitable scenario, that recognizes the strong ecological commitment of our industry that is at the forefront”. The organizations that have signed the agreement are: WEEE Coordination Centre, the associations of electrical and electronic equipment manufacturers (Confindustria has entrusted to the representative of Ceced Italia the delegation for all these associations), the associations of the companies operating in the waste collection and the trade organizations. The agreement is open to all sector operators and associations.
